On May 23 at the Pulaski County Bar Association's Annual Meeting, we had the honor of announcing Jay P. Coleman as this year's 'Jean Turner Carter 2024 Pulaski County VOCALS Attorney of the Year' for the Center for Arkansas Legal Services. Congratulations Jay!👑
"All lawyers have a professional responsibility to provide legal services to those unable to pay, but Jay Coleman exemplifies this commitment through his extraordinary dedication to his clients, regardless of their financial situation. From June 1, 2023, to June 1, 2024, Jay has gone above and beyond, offering pro bono representation to low-income clients in areas such as criminal record sealing, social security issues, and family law. Over the past year, Jay has devoted 91.5 hours to providing free legal services to those in need. CALS is proud to name Jay Coleman as the Pulaski County VOCALS Attorney of the Year," said Pro Bono Manager Drew Rodgers.
The remarkable dedication of pro bono attorneys like Jay significantly enhances our Arkansas communities, leaving a lasting positive impact. Without this dedication, we would not be able to do our mission of equal justice for all.
"When I became an attorney in 2020, I told God that I would use my license to serve His people. I never considered being recognized for attempting to do that. I greatly appreciate the VOCALS award. It means a lot to me to be recognized for trying to help. I take pride in providing the best service to individuals who likely would not be able to afford it. Hearing their excitement when we get a favorable ruling makes the work rewarding. It is my hope that I continue to be of assistance in the future," said Attorney Jay Coleman.
